On Saturday 22 March join artists, campaigners and thinkers to explore climate change. We will engage our senses and consider change in response to the climate crisis. Sessions include talks from Coreset's resident artists, a panel discussion and a showing of the documentary feature film ‘Six Inches of Soil’ - an inspiring story of British farmers transforming the way they produce food to heal the soil, benefit health and provide for local communities. Bookings via Eventbrite here. £5 donation for refreshments (teas & coffees etc during the day). Lunch available on request £8. Carers & students/under 25's free - email info@coreset.org to reserve your place.
Sessions:
Fiona Carruthers explores powerful themes of environmental sustainability, resilience, and creativity through her personal journey across landscapes. Drawing on her experience of flooding and post-traumatic growth, Fiona's art reflects deep connections between nature, humanity and survival.Tom Martin introduces the 'Seeing Change' project sharing powerful visual stories of Amazigh women in the Ziz Valley, Morocco, as they document the effects of climate change on their lives. Timed with COP29, 'Seeing Change' aims is to amplify their voices and drive action for climate justice.
Dr Annie Morrad and David Carruthers explore non-human and human perspectives.
Annie's work recovers a forgotten language - one shared across species through sound, rhythm, and gesture. Her unique practice invites us to reconnect with non-humans, including her co-creators, the wild birds she encounters along the river where she lives. David’s art reflects his exploration of the events, people, and landscapes that shape him. He pauses and questions how we perceive and interpret our surroundings. Grounded by his early engineering experiences and mediative daily rituals he shares deeply personal experiences.
Hannah Thorogood singlehandedly runs a livestock farm, where she's regenerated her soil with cows, sheep, turkeys and hens who graze under the trees. She's a permaculture educator working closely with Pasture For Life, who’s one of the film partners.
