Dave Bramston

Dave Bramston is an English artist / designer based in Xuzhou China and an Associate Professor at the School of Architecture and Design at The China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) Xuzhou. At CUMT he delivers Creative Thinking, Design Morphology and Idea Generation in Design. He is Creative Director at Of Many Circles and Director of Bramston Studios Limited. He has advised leading design institutions in the UK and was a teaching advisor on the International Foundation Programme at Tsinghua University Beijing China (2014 – 2019). 

 

Dave’s career in design began in London with studios creating works for clients including Christian Dior, Reebok, Motorola and Swatch prior to leading undergraduate and postgraduate design programmes in the UK between 2000 - 2019. 
 

He focuses on generating works using a wide variety of materials. His collections often utilise waste or industry surplus materials and have been exhibited widely in the UK, USA and China. Exhibitions include the Duende Art Museum Shunde, the Guangzhou Opera House, the Guangzhou International Finance Center, Milan Design Fair and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) New York. Bramston has conducted over 100 creative workshops in China working with institutions and communities. 

 

Dave is a published by Bloomsbury on international design: titles include Idea Searching, Material Thoughts, Visual Conversations and Idea Searching for Designers which has been published in multiple languages. He is authoring a book titled Design with Waste Materials for Bloomsbury.
