Chloe Brierley
Artist
She / her

Chloe is a multidisciplinary artist who works with paint, printmaking, and collage, exploring the material qualities of each medium to express compelling narratives. Her practice explores the intricate relationship between abstraction and realism, delving into the layered complexities of how the world is interpreted, reflecting on the tension between transcendent visions and the comfort of the familiar.

Portraits of past and present figures feature in Chloe’s work as she reimagines moments and reflects on the human experience. Her pieces are a meditation on how we interact with history, inhabit the present, and dream of futures yet to come. Inspired by Afrofuturism and its exploration of the African diaspora's intersection with science and technology, Chloe creates a visual language of futurism, weaving together narratives that bridge time and space.

Chloe’s studies in design shape her visual language, offering tools to explore sustainability, emerging technologies, and the human experience from a technical perspective, informing and deepening her practice. This balance between traditional methods—oil painting, printing, and collage—and futuristic ideas and techniques enable her to communicate vast concepts in a tactile, intimate way.

Her work has been selected for exhibitions including the Royal Academy of Arts Young Artists’ Show (2021) and Narrowly Newark (2024). She holds a UAL Foundation Diploma in Art and Design (Distinction) Lincoln College and is currently pursuing a BSc Product Design at Nottingham Trent University. Chloe is a member of Arts Emergency, where she acts as a mentor to help support young creatives.
